Absolute Rotary Encoders: An Overview
Absolute rotary encoders are used in various industries in order to find out the speed or position of something. They determine position by using a static reference point. Whether these rotary encoders are magnetic or optical, they work the same way – using two plates or discs. One disc moves about freely, while the other one is fixed.
A manufacturer of rotary encoders, Netzer Precision provides high-performance products using patented, leading-edge technology. The absolute rotary encoder low cost is guaranteed because Netzer Precision has its very own proprietary technology which was developed and created by its founder Mr. Netzer. Called the Electric Encoder, this non-contact technology has several advantages, including a simple and robust structure with a virtually no-failure mechanism, generous mounting tolerances, absolute position output over 360° rotation range, and a default operation range from -55°C to +125°C.
The rotary encoders that Netzer designed using the Electric Encoder technology uses either a 3-plate or a 2-plate topology. These topologies both have space/time modulated electric field within a shielded space. Using the Electric Encoder has these other benefits: a hollow, floating shaft with no bearings, very low power consumption, immunity to magnetic and electric interference, low profile, high mechanical durability, high tolerance to mechanical installation errors, a wide temperature operation range, and a simple mechanical and electrical interface.
